Exploring Life & Business with Nashville Voyager

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jen Goodall. - Article in FULL

Hi Jen, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.

Our journey with Clary Collection began in our kitchens in November 2016. From those humble beginnings, we’ve embarked on a remarkable path that fills us with pride and conviction in what we do and why. Each passing week brings us heartfelt stories from families and individuals across the globe, reinforcing our mission to share the potent, nurturing, and safe benefits of herbal skincare with others.

As a women-founded and women-operated company, we’ve experienced steady growth. Today, we’re proud to have a presence in over 180 stores worldwide and online, all from our Clary production space in Appleton, WI. Our dedication to quality has been acknowledged, with our entire line of balms and oils receiving certification as Non-Toxic by MADE SAFE®, a testament to our commitment to products free from ingredients known to harm human health and ecosystems.

The inception of the Clary Collection was deeply personal, rooted in the transformative experience of motherhood. The pregnancies and births of our children fundamentally shifted our perspectives, instilling in us a newfound appreciation for the importance of clean skincare products for both ourselves and our families. Understanding that the skin acts as the body’s largest organ, absorbing numerous toxins, we embarked on a quest to procure clean and effective skincare solutions. Yet, despite the abundance of products claiming to be “organic” or “natural,” we found many still harbored harmful components and harsh extracts.

This realization catalyzed Clary Collection, propelling us to create effective, genuinely safe, and nurturing skincare offerings. Our journey is a testament to the power of passion, perseverance, and purpose, and we’re immensely grateful to be able to share our handcrafted products with the world.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?

Clary Collection has been incredibly fulfilling but hasn’t been without its challenges. As new mothers entering the skincare industry, we faced unique obstacles that tested our resilience and determination. One of the most significant struggles we encountered was navigating the complexities of being new mothers and entrepreneurs simultaneously. Balancing the demands of motherhood with the needs of building a business required careful planning and prioritization, and often, late nights were fueled by sheer passion, dedication, and tears. Additionally, breaking into an industry dominated by big brands laden with synthetic chemicals presented its challenges. Competing with established names and their extensive marketing budgets was daunting, especially when promoting our commitment to clean, herbal skincare. Despite these hurdles, our journey has been defined by growth, learning, and a deep sense of fulfillment. Each obstacle has only strengthened our resolve to provide our customers with clean, organic skincare solutions.

Thanks for sharing that. Please tell us more about your business.
